The Glenbrook & District Historical Society Inc., established in 1977, is dedicated to researching, recording, preserving, and promoting the rich history of Glenbrook and its surrounding districts. For 2025, the society has curated a series of engaging ‘History Walks’ led by Doug Knowles and his team. These walks are designed to accommodate various fitness levels, ensuring that participants can comfortably explore and appreciate the historical significance of each site.
Upcoming Walks:
- March 29, 9:00 am – “The Descent to the West”: Embark on short return walks at Mt. York, traversing three historic roads leading westward: Cox’s Pass (1815), Lawson’s Road (1822), and Berghofer’s Pass (1909). This 4-hour excursion is moderately challenging, with some short steep sections and rough terrain. bluemountainsheritage.com.au
- April 12, 1:30 pm – “Lennox Bridge”: Explore the old stone quarry, Brookside Creek, Dunn’s Steam Sawmill relics, and the earth dam during this 2.5-hour walk. The route is moderately challenging, featuring short steep sections and some uneven paths.
